FRC Job Vacancy - Communications & Web Officer (0.6 FTE)

Based at the Centre for Food Policy at City, University of London, the Food Research Collaboration (FRC) focuses on achieving the Centre for Food Policy’s goal of achieving a more integrated and inclusive UK food system. We do this by bringing together academics across disciplines and Civil Society Organisations across sectors to produce and promote the evidence-based knowledge needed to achieve integrated and inclusive food policy in the UK.

Responsibilities

We are seeking to employ a part time (0.6 FTE) Web & Communications Officer to support our external communications and manage the FRC website (www.foodresearch.org.uk), until at least 29 February 2020, when current funding phase ends. Working as an integral member of the small Food Research Collaboration (FRC) team based in the Centre for Food Policy, you will lead our external communications and manage the FRC website.

More specifically you will responsible for our communications strategy to ensure FRC outputs are in the hands of decision makers and that our members and other stakeholders understand the FRC and what it does. This will involve liasion with external partners, writing newsletters/mailouts and press releases as well as managing FRC social media. You will also be responsible for developing, updating and managing the FRC website, including writing and editing news items and articles and managing the FRC membership and subscriber database.

Person Specification

You will have a good knowledge of the basic principles of media and communications and excellent writing skills, including an ability to write in a clear, concise and engaging way. Experience of using a range of content management systems (CMS) and creating content suitable for the intended audience and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is also vital.
