Politicians quizzed food experts on Brexit at joint FRC/Food Foundation/Food Ethics Council event

On Monday, 25 April, politicians and food experts met in the House of Parliament to discuss the implications of this year’s EU referendum, in a debate jointly organised by The Food Foundation, Food Ethics Council and Food Research Collaboration.

Professor Tim Lang (City University London), Professor Wyn Grant and Professor Fiona Smith (both from the University of Warwick) summarised the evidence regarding the potential consequences of Brexit for the food system, particularly in the areas of farming, sustainable diets, public health and international trade. They then answered questions from Labour MP Kerry McCarthy and Raymond Finch (MEP for UKIP), as well as from audience members. The event was chaired by Charlotte Smith, presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Farming Today programme.

You can find a detailed Storify of the event on the website of the Food Foundation.
