Tim Benton a UK champion for global food security joins the FRC for our Food Bites series and explores the current issues in the food system and what civil society organisations and academics could be doing to work towards solutions that address the issues within the food system.
Professor Tim Benton the dean of strategic research initiatives at the University of Leeds. From 2011-16 he was the ‘champion’ of the UK’s Global Food Security programme which was a multi-agency partnership of the UK’s public bodies (government departments, devolved governments and research councils) with an interest in the challenges around food.
He has published over 150 academic papers and has worked advising industry and policy communities and research funders; worked with UK governments, the EU and G20. He is a frequent contributor to events around the world.
